The size, band count, bit depth and compression are listed, along with whether the file says where on earth it sits. A sixteen-bit raster is stretched for the preview so you see the image rather than a black rectangle.
WebP cannot hold a position, so if the source was georeferenced take the world file written beside it. Without that, the image no longer knows where it belongs.
JPEG carries more than geometry, and most converters drop the rest. This one does not.

The position cannot live inside a WebP, so it is written to a sidecar file beside it. Keep them together and a GIS will still place the image correctly.
Bands, bit depth, compression, tiling and coordinate system are all reported before you convert, which is often the answer somebody was after anyway.
No. The whole thing is decoded and rewritten in your own browser. Nothing is transmitted, which matters for survey imagery that is not yours to share.
WebP has nowhere to keep a position, so it cannot. A world file is written alongside instead, and the image is only georeferenced for as long as the two stay together.
Uncompressed, LZW, deflate and PackBits, tiled or stripped, 8 and 16 bit, one band or several. Sixteen-bit data is stretched for display so you see the image rather than a black rectangle.
Large files are read fine. Anything over about six thousand pixels across is scaled for the preview and for picture output, and the figures shown always describe the original.
