Draw and Export a GIS Layer

Draw points, lines and plot boundaries straight onto a map, give them attributes, and export to any format. Corners snap to nearby vertices, so a new plot sits exactly on its neighbour rather than near it.

Why this matters here

Older Indian survey and revenue records sit on the Everest spheroid, not WGS 84. Treating one as the other puts everything a few hundred metres out — enough to move a plot boundary onto a neighbour.

Indian systems included

Kalianpur 1880, 1937 and 1975, the India zone grids, UTM zones 42N to 47N on both WGS 84 and Indian datums, and the WGS 84 state systems.

Bulk paste

Paste a column straight out of a spreadsheet. Anything after the first two values is carried through as a label, and the result downloads as CSV.

Nothing leaves your device

The arithmetic runs in your browser with proj4. No coordinate is transmitted, logged or stored anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

How do I draw a shape?

Pick Point, Line or Area, then click on the map to place corners. Double-click or press Enter to finish, Backspace to remove the last corner, Escape to cancel. Click a finished shape to select it and drag its corners to adjust.

What does snapping do?

While you draw, a corner within about fourteen pixels of an existing vertex jumps exactly onto it. That is how a new plot ends up sharing its neighbour's boundary precisely rather than leaving a sliver. Turn it off if you need a free corner.

Can I trace over an existing file?

Yes. Load one under "Trace over an existing layer" and it appears greyed behind your drawing. Its corners become snap targets too, which is the usual way to add a plot to a village map.

How do I add attributes?

Set the column names once, then fill them in per shape. They travel into whatever format you export, so a Shapefile comes out with a proper attribute table.

Is anything saved on a server?

No. Everything is held in the page and lost when you close the tab, so download before you leave. Nothing is transmitted at any point.
